Ifelodun Local Government Partners with NCAM to Boost Farmers' Access to Agricultural Machinery
The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has outlined plans to collaborate with the National Center for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to support farmers across the Local Government Area.
In a recent visit to the NCAM facility in Idofian on Monday, Hadji Femi Yusuf met with NCAM's Executive Director, Engr. Dr. Abdulrasheed Gafar Kamal. The chairman emphasized his goal of advancing food security in the area by equipping local farmers with modern agricultural machinery to improve productivity and ease in farming practices.
“We are here to establish a partnership to empower our youth and farmers, making farming simpler in our local government and contributing to national food security,” Chairman Yusuf said. “Agriculture is a cornerstone of our work in Ifelodun, and we are committed to expanding it under our administration.”
He also outlined plans for the local government to acquire additional tractors and other machinery to boost food production, which will benefit both local consumption and revenue generation through affordable pricing.
Engr. Kamal praised the chairman's initiative, noting that this was the first time a local government chairman had visited NCAM to explore ways to leverage its services. “This is the first time a council chairman has come here with the intent to domesticate NCAM's work at the local level. We truly appreciate this move, and we are ready to collaborate,” Kamal stated.
He explained that NCAM fabricate machineries specifically to support local farmers, with several states already benefiting from its equipment.
The chairman toured various units within the NCAM facility, including the Processing Machine Unit, Production Unit, Waste-to-Wealth Unit, and Greenhouse.
