Date: 2024-09-06

As reported by Voice of Nigeria, the Kwara State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) secretariat has planted 1,600 trees at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, as part of a proactive effort to combat deforestation.

The tree planting exercise, led by NYSC State Coordinator Mr. Onifade Joshua, is seen as a significant step toward recovering the lost forest in the orientation camp. Mr. Joshua emphasized that deforestation is becoming a growing challenge in society and urged that immediate action is crucial.

The initiative involved both Corps members and camp officials. Additionally, Mr. Onifade noted that the Corps members have established the Forestation Vanguard, an initiative aimed at promoting tree planting across the state.
