Date: 2024-06-23

According to a news report from Voice of Nigeria, the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced that female aspirants and persons with disabilities will be exempt from paying for the Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government election nomination forms.

In a statement by the Governor's aide on New Media, Olayinka Fafoluyi, it was declared that these two groups would receive the forms free of charge. This decision is part of the Governor's HeforShe empathy initiative.

Additionally, the APC in Kwara State has paused the sale of nomination forms for chairmanship and councilorship aspirants for the upcoming local government elections. The State Chairman of the Local Government Election Committee, Abdullahi Abubakar Samari, mentioned to VON that only those who have been selected as the party's consensus candidates will be allowed to purchase the forms once the sale resumes.

The electoral committee had earlier announced to all intending aspirants and stakeholders that the sale of forms for the forthcoming Local Government council election will commence on the 21st of June, 2024.

According to the announcement, aspirants are to purchase forms by paying the prescribed fee into the party's Fidelity bank account with account name: APC Kwara Chapter and account number 4011458044.

It added that the teller obtained from the payment should be brought to the Chairman, Finance Sub-committee at the party secretariat for documentation.

The statement also declared that once the payment is verified, receipt would be issued along with the application form.

Aspirants are to note also that the sale of forms closes on the 25th of June at 12 noon.

The Chairmanship form goes for a million naira while Councilorship form goes for N250,000.

The statement further emphasized that both chairmanship and councilorship forms are free for women and the physically challenged aspirants.
