Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak's KwaraLearn Expands

Date: 2024-03-20

In November 2021, Kwara State government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, through Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) set out to revamp basic education in the state with KwaraLEARN (Leading Education Achievement and Reform Now.

One of the key stages prior to the launch of KwaraLEARN is the intensive teacher training. This training educates teachers and headteachers on the uses of innovative technology, data-driven platforms, high-quality learning materials, effective training and continuous coaching to support teachers and headteachers.

The programme has empowered our public primary school teachers with the right digital tools to be at their best while providing an electronic platform to make classrooms and schools effective and transparent. The technology monitors attendance and performance of pupils and teachers in all classrooms, offering continual support and feedback. All these centers on the fact that pupils are now actively engaged in more learning activities compared to the situation before KwaraLEARN.

The schools in the 16 local government areas (LGA's) of Kwara were onboarded into the KwaraLEARN program in a gradual systemic phased approach to ensure that the full value of the new methodology was introduced with minimal disruption of school operations. Baruten, Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Offa were onboarded first in phase 1 which happened April/May 2022, Ekiti, Irepodun, Ilorin South, atigi, Oke Ero and Asa were onboarded in phase 2 December 2022 to January 2023 while the final phase occurred in Januray 2024 onboarding the final areas of Ifelodun, Isin, Oyun, Edu, Kaiama Moro.

As of February 2024, all sixteen LGAs of Kwara State have been fully onboarded on the KwaraLEARN programme; with full implementation, continuous school monitoring and support now fully activated. KwaraLEARN provides a safe and supportive environment which helps to accelerate the learning, literacy and numeracy performance of the pupils. It equips teachers with the necessary skills to better engage with their pupils and to deliver more effective teaching. This is a demonstration of academic excellence and the state government's commitment to make the state ready for the challenges of the 21st century. The programme provides quality education for all children in the state ensuring they are able to compete favorably with their counterparts in other parts of Nigeria and across the world.

Through KwaraLEARN, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's government has improved the quality of education in Kwara state, providing resources and support to improve the quality of education in Kwara state as every KwaraLEARN trained Teacher has a “Teacher Tablet” assigned to him/her, every KwaraLEARN trained Headteacher has a Smartphone, 2 Teacher Tablets, and a power bank assigned to him/her and all KwaraLEARN listed school have a variety of learning materials to aid children learning all of these at no extra cost to parents.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak's administration is delivering dramatic improvements in the learning outcomes for public school children across Kwara State – KwaraLEARN has successfully onboarded 1,599 public primary schools across all 16 LGAs. This ongoing transformative educational project in Kwara State public primary schools means thousands of Kwara children are obtaining quality education comparable to their peers around the globe. KwaraLEARN leverage of education technology in public schools promotes a brighter future for Kwara children.
