SURE-P registers unemployed youths for empowerment in Kwara

Date: 2013-01-12

The Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) on Friday started registering unemployed youths in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara. Ajadi Olaniyi, the officer in charge of the exercise, said that the programme was targeted at unemployed youths, widows, sex workers, house maids as well as HIV/AIDS patients.

Olaniyi said that those being registered would be employed for monthly  stipends. Taye Omotosho, the SURE-P Coordinator in Offa, said that students would not participate in the exercise.

Goke Rabiu, the Chairman of PDP in Offa, commended the Federal Government for bringing succour to the people at the grassroots through the programme. ``This programme is a soothing measure to the economic pressure occasioned by subsidy removal which would drastically reduce unemployment in the country,” he said.
