Illegal substances: NDLEA arrests four in Kwara
The Kwara State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested four suspects for allegedly dealing in illegal substances suspected to be cannabis.
The suspects were apprehended at a hotel in Ilorin, the state capital.
While briefing journalists on the development, the state commander of the agency, Ibrahim Mohammed, said the latest arrest also includes a 21-year-old girl, Ishola Bisola, whom the agency disclosed is being used as an agent to hawk illicit drugs.
The NDLEA boss revealed that preliminary investigations have disclosed that one of the suspects, Yusuf Yahaya, who was arrested while conveying Cannabis sativa weighing 31 kilograms through Kwara State to Kebbi and Zamfara states, is a supplier of hard drugs to bandits operating within the axis.
He said the arrest of the suspects reaffirms the agency's readiness to intensify its fight against illegal drug supply in the coming year.
According to him, immediately after the incident investigation is completed, all the suspects will be charged in court.
