KWASU graduates 16,315 students, 183 bag first class

Date: 2023-12-12

Kwara State University, Malete, has produced 16,315 graduates for the 10th and 11th combined convocation ceremony for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

There are 183 first-class graduates for the combined convocation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, announced at a press conference held at the main campus of the institution on Tuesday.

For the 2021/2022 academic session, 11,096 students will graduate while 4,107 will be produced by the institution. Professor Shaykh-Luqman asserted that despite the current upheavals in the Nigerian university system and the persistent challenges posed by climate change, economic challenges and social conflicts, the institution had continued to make impactful advances.

The VC said, “We believe that it is only through proper, efficient and consistent education that we can surmount the onerous tasks that confront Nigeria as a nation.”

He said despite many odds facing tertiary education in Nigeria, the institution has maintained the tradition of a stable academic calendar.

Professor Shaykh-Luqman said the institution has, within its limited resources, continued to invest in infrastructure on the campus with remarkable transformations which are enhancing the learning and working environment.

The VC enumerated some challenges of the institution including land encroachment, poor state of the road to the main campus from Shao to Malete, lack of adequate accommodation for students.
