UBEC commends Kwara for effective utilisation of funds for school project
The Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC has commended Kwara state for effectively using accessed funds for school infrastructure.
The commission said it was happy that the funds were effectively utilised unlike what obtained in the past when the state was blacklisted over inappropriate utilisation of matching grants
A team from UBEC led by its Deputy Executive Secretary (Services) , Dr Isiaka Kolawole, were in Kwara for an on-the-spot assessment of its projects and the utilisation of the funds so far accessed for the state's basic school infrastructure.
Kwara is also set to provide free basic text books for public students as the state is currently in good standing with UBEC after paying its counterpart funds.
This is currently being seen in the rehabilitation of old and the construction of new school buildings around the state.
The UBEC team also visited some of the school structures provided with basic teaching materials including solar-powered ICT centres.
The state universal basic education board is now set to provide free textbooks for pupils in public primary schools from next session.
The Kwara state government is actively repairing schools throughout the state in order to improve learning results and make learning environments more conducive.
