A major damage to a pipeline from Asa Dam waterworks, has resulted in the stoppage of water supply to major parts of Ilorin metropolis, the Kwara State capital.

The Kwara State Ministry of Water Resources, announced in a statement in Ilorin on Friday.

"This is to inform members of the public, that the main pipe conveying water to the Eastern Reservoir and Oke-Ose, both in Ilorin metropolis, has been dislocated owing to the impacts on it by some trees felled by torrential rains in the capital city," the statement by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Wahab Femi Agbaje, stated.

"The place where this occured, is currently inaccessible owing to the volume of water at this time of constant rainfall.

"Water authorities are eager to fix the massive pipes once the water level recedes in the coming weeks," the statement added.
