Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called for more enlightenment and campaigns against coronavirus and Lassa fever diseases in the country.

The emir, who commended the Federal Government for its efforts towards preventing coronavirus, also called for prayer against spread of the disease to the country

Sulu-Gambari spoke at the weekend during a special prayer organised in honour of the lecturers from the Ilorin Emirate who were newly elevated as professors.

"Coronavirus, which has created global panic, will never find its way into Nigeria and we will soon overcome the outbreak of Lassa Fever," the monarch prayed.

The traditional ruler, while describing education as the bedrock of development, enjoined the new professors to mentor and encourage youths in Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State to be more academically-inclined.

He also preached unity among Nigerians in order to overcome the prevailing insecurity, saying that it is "only in an atmosphere of peace and harmony that Nigeria can record more growth and development."

Sulu-Gambari prayed God to guide Nigerian leaders towards providing leadership qualities that will further translate into the desired prosperity at all levels across the nation.

He also urged university authorities to always embark on researches that will continue to proffer meaningful solutions to the lingering social menace, economic challenges, as well as infrastructural decadence with unity of purpose for the growth of humanity.

The prayer for the new professors was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Mohammad Bashir, who was supported by other Islamic clerics in the town.
