KW TPDA Computerises Operations
The Kwara State Town Planning and Development Authority(TPDA) has introduced computer system for the processing of building approval.
The executive secretary of the TPDA, TPL Raimi Adeoti, who disclosed this during an interview with The Herald Property said the rationale behind the introduction of computer was to keep in tune with the modern challenges of technology.
With the computerization of the system, Adeoti explained that documents would be scanned and stored in the computer.
The system he said would avail the TPDA ample opportunity to easily access or retrieve any document, unlike in the past when they would spend hours searching for a document through a heap of files.
Adeoti stated further that the computerization of Town Planning approval covers Ilorin metropolis and five local government areas in the Kwara Central promising that other local government areas would be captured in no distant time.
He explained further that every building would undergo three stages namely: scanning of document, certification of document and certification of completion.
The secretary said that the authority had mapped out a standing rule that makes it compulsory for anybody that is building house to report to TPDA at different stages of the building so as to forestall building collapse.
"It is not necessary but compulsory for every house builder to report to us at foundation, window and roofing levels" Adeoti said.
He therefore thanked the Kwara state Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, and state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Muhammed Babakpan Isah, for providing their unalloyed support towards the progress and development of Kwara master plan.
