Date: 2019-02-23

The former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP,) Alhaji Abubakar Kawu-Baraje has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of Saturday's election especially the security put in place in some areas within the Ilorin metropolis.

Alhaji Baraje however, expressed concern over the mal functioning of the card reader machines in most voting centers across the state.

According to him, he is so happy with the turn out of voters as they were so undoubted as a result of last weeks postponement of the election. The PDP chieftain stated that insufficiency in electoral materials and with the failure of the card reader machines, the electorate become wary adding that it is a sign of discrepancy in the part of INEC.

Alhaji Kawu-Baraje condemed the arrest of some PDP members in the state including the Party's candidate for the Kwara south senatorial district, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim for alledged involvement in some criminal activities and wondered why it was only a person was arrested.

According to him, despite the fact that many security operatives were deployed to Kwara Stare, people still turned out in their large numbers to cast their vote. Alhaji Baraje urged the electorate not to fight even in the face of provocation because all what some people are planning is to ensure that the election is inconclusive.
