Raliat Elelu-Habeeb Charges New Magistrates
The Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Raliat Elelu-Habeeb, has warned newly appointed magistrates to shun every negative tendency capable of impeding free flow of justice in the state.
Justise Elelu-Habeeb gave the warning yesterday at the swearing -in and oath taking of the seven new members of the magisterial bench, bringing to 40 the total number of magistrates in the state.
The event took place at the conference Hall of the state judiciary headquarters, in Ilorin.
The new magistrates include Mrs. Baraje Biliqis, Mrs. Ahmed Belgore Maryam, and Hajia Bello Maryam.
Others are Messrs Haruna Muhammed Adeshina Morenikeji, Shaffi Luqman Mohammed and Yusuf Olatunji.
Elelu-Habeeb admonished the magistrates to discharge their duty according to existing law, stressing that their contributions would go a long way to sustaining the integrity of the judiciary in the state.
She advised them to exhibit restraint and high moral standard to be able to succeed in their new assignments.
Magistrate Baraje, who responded on behalf of her colleagues, expressed appreciation to the judiciary for giving them the opportunity to serve in that capacity, promising that they would not betray the confidence reposed in them.
The magistrates were appointed by the state Judicial Service Ccommission . Each of the appointees has served a minimum of 5 years at the bar.
