Share Robbery: Two Vehicles Recovered, Robbers Still at Large
There were indications yesterday that some members of the robbery gang that robbed a bank in Share, Headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have been arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Unconfirmed sources informed newsmen that the suspects, who escaped during a gun duel with the police at Oke-Oyi were eventually arrested.
However, the Kwara State Police Command said it has not made any arrest in connection with the robbery incident.
The state Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Fabode Olufemi, in a telephone interview informed newsmen that two vehicles, a Toyota Seina Space bus and a Jeep allegedly abandoned by the robbers have been recovered.
The vehicles which have since been parked at the State Anti-Robbery office, in Ilorin, according to the police spokesperson, were suspected to have been snatched by the robbers.
He said the command was making efforts to uncover the suspects wherever they might be, adding that investigations were still on stressing that the command would not rest on its oars.
It would be recalled that the suspects on Wednesday afternoon attacked the branch of First Bank Plc in Share and carted away undisclosed amount of money.
The robbers allegedly killed a vigilante, Mr. Yusuf Atari while trying to arrest them.
Meanwhile, the state House of Assembly has condemned the incident, describing it as tragic.
The House, in a matter of urgent public importance raised by the Majority Leader, Hon. Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu representing Share Constituency, appealed to security agencies to strengthen security network to prevent re-occurrence.
The Speaker, Barrister Razak Atunwa described the security situation in Nigeria as challenging and called on the security agencies to rise to the situation.
He condoled with the families of those who lost their relatives in the incident.
Some of the law makers, who condemned the incident inclueded the Chief Whip, Hon. Audu Saidu Limon; Hon. Nimota Ibrahim of Ilorin East Constituency and Dr. Abraham Ashaolu representing Oke-Ero Constituency.
