2019: Kwara APC guber candidate denies parley with Saraki

Date: 2018-10-20

The Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2019 elections, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, has denied any political association with Senate President Bukola Saraki. He said working with or for Saraki amounted to sabotaging his effort to liberate Kwara State.

In an emailed statement, AbdulRazak said that coming from one of the most popular families in Kwara State apart from being successful in the oil sector since the 1980s, he had no inclination towards associating with Saraki.

He recalled that his elder brother, Alhaji Alimi AbdulRazaq, brought PDP to Kwara in 1999 and ran on its platform against the Saraki-backed Mohammed Lawal while he (Abdulrahman) ran under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011 against the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria's candidate, Mohammed Dele Belgore and Saraki's stalwart, AbdulFatah Ahmed, before joining PDP in 2014 to contest for Kwara Central Senatorial Seat against Bukola Saraki of the APC.

However, he said when Saraki joined the APC he promised to remain in the opposition with the people.
