I am absolutely shocked by the news of the demise of Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin who passed on in the early hours of this morning.

His death came to me as a total surprise as I still spoke with Balogun Ajikobi only a few days ago and there was no hint of what was imminent.

In our last conversation, Balogun as always, he spoke passionately about unity and development of the Ilorin Emirate and prayed for peaceful co-existence in the State.

Even though the late Balogun died at a relatively ripe age, I am saddened by the loss of this great patriot. In this Holy Month of Ramadan, I pray that the Almighty Allah grant him Al-janan fridaus.
