Come late to office, lose one-month pay - Kwara HoS to Civil Servants

Date: 2018-03-29

Civil servants in Kwara State, who run foul of laid down rules and regulation, risk losing one month salary, as it is no longer business as usual. Lateness to work and redundancy would no longer be tolerated and as such would attract penalty with the offender surcharged.

These formed part of the stern warnings issued to state workers by the Head of Service (HoS), Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole during an unscheduled visit to ministries in Ilorin, the state capital, yesterday.

This medium learnt that the visit was to ensure punctuality of workers, adherence to dress code and environmental cleanliness of office premises.

Addressing the civil servants, the HoS who stressed that the state government has zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline, said stiff sanctions would be employed to bring sanity into the system.

Expressing dissatisfaction for lackadaisical attitude to work by state workers, Mrs Oluwole harped on the need for attitudinal change.

"There is zero tolerance for redundancy, as discipline, punctuality and productiveness would be strictly adhered to.

"It is not going to be business as usual; any officer found wanting would lose his/her salary for the month. Any officer found violating the rules and regulations of the civil service would face the wrath of law, "the HoS emphasised.

Towards a virile and vibrant civil service, she charged workers to be alive to their responsibilities and live up to expectations at all times. Mrs Oluwole also enjoined civil servants across the state to dress smartly and formally to portray the service in good light.
