The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, has handed over materials N4million to the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association (IEYDA).

The materials were donated to the group ahead of its multi-million naira empowerment programme scheduled to hold at the Forecourt of the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Ibrahim, who handed over the materials to the association through his Senior Legislative Aide, Alhaji Abdulrauf Akogun, at a brief ceremony held in Ilorin, dedicated the gesture to the late Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, who he said, brought him into political spotlite.

The legislator stated that the late strong man of Kwara politics handed him over to the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, saying that he has no regret being in politics through the efforts of Saraki dynasty.

He said he sees Ilorin people as part and parcel of him regardless of the fact that the ancient town was part of his Senatorial District.

Ibrahim, who chairs Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, said the donation of the materials was also borne out of the respect he has for the Emir of Ilorin, describing him as father of all.

The legislator restated his support and loyalty to the Saraki political structure and added that the gesture was part of his widow's mite to appreciate the late political icon.

Ibrahim urged the people of Ilorin Emirate to renew their commitment and throw their weight behind the President of the Senate, saying they have a lot to benefit with him in the saddle.

The IEYDA President, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen, who received the materials alongside other members of his executive, commended the legislature for contributing his quota to the development of the Emirate, informing that the group's empowerment scheme was designed to reduce the high rate poverty in the society.

Items received from Senator Ibrahim included 10 sewing machines, 10 grinding machines, 10 complete barbing saloon equipment, 10 generating set, 10 hair dressing saloon equipment and two tricycles.
