Why we suspended Kwara computer village project - Harmony Holdings

Date: 2017-12-22

The Harmony Holdings Limited (HHL) has offered reasons why the computer village project at Yidi Road, Ilorin, was suspended.

Speaking with our reporter in his office, yesterday, the Head of Corporate Affairs, HHL, Kayode Aremu said the project is designed over three phases, adding that the first phase has been completed.

"As I am talking to you now, our team of engineers, designers and consultants are working on it and planning on how to create something more beautiful in addition to the original design for a better hub. "As soon as that is completed, work will commence in earnest at the site," he stated.

Speaking further, Aremu said HHL is yet to have any failed project because the company has laid down rules to follow diligently, adding that there is a regulatory body that supervises all its projects.

According to him, part of the strategic exertions ongoing on the computer village is enlargement of the parking lots. Aremu, however, stated that construction will resume on the site at the beginning of 2018.

On the total budget for the project, Aremu said over N500 million will be spent from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of HHL in addition to grants from partners.

On the likely date of completion of the project, he said, "If everything goes according to plan, the project is expected to be commissioned latest December, 2018.

Let me also hard that the hub was contracted to an indigenous company in our usual practice since inception. We have been empowering Kwarans through our numerous projects to further boost the state economy."

Meanwhile, the HHL spokesman pledged that the company is committed to realizing the Amoyo international market as the design is ready in anticipation of the groundbreaking by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in January, 2018.

"The rationale behind the international market is to make Kwara a commercial for the Northern and Southern part of the country where people will not need to travel the distance to Lagos to buy their needs."

Aremu described the record of HHL in the outgoing year as laudable, particularly the completion and commissioning of Harmony Hub at Fate. Another achievement of the holdings according to him is the electrification of a community called Lajola in Ilorin East local government.
