Dignitaries storm fidau of Kwara Poly rector's father

Ode Alfanda, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday came alive as prominent people stormed Elelu compound for the fidau of Alhaji Mahmud Akanbi Elelu, father of the Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Alhaji Masu'd Elelu.

Alhaji Akanbi Elelu died on Friday 3rd November, 2017 at the age of 100.

The state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Abdulfatah was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Wahab Babatunde Yusuf, who led state government functionaries to the event.

Also in attendance were members of the state House of Assembly, politicians, academicians, legal luminaries, head of media houses, traditional chiefs and prominent clerics among others.

Roll call of dignitaries include, former military governor of Osun State, Colonel Theophilus Bamigboye (rtd); former Grand Khadis, Justice Idris Haroon and Justice Mutalib Ambali; Balogun Ajikobi, Alh. Muhammad Jamiu Issa; Balogun Alanamu, Alh. Akanbi Jos; Balogun Gambari, Alh. Aliyu Adebayo.

Also present at the ceremony were Senior Advocates of Nigeria ( SAN) including Saka Isau , Salman Adebayo Adelodun, Olaolu Yusuf Alli and Kehinde Eleja.

Others are former Head of Service, Dabarako Mohammed, ,Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Prof Abdulrasheed Na'allah, acting Chairman, SUBEB, Abdulwahab Bolakale and Special Assistant on Energy and Rural electrification, Musa Abdullahi.

Media gurus at the event include the Managing Director, National Pilot Newspaper, Alhaji Billy Adedamola; the General Manager Radio Kwara, Alh. Abdulateef Adebowale Adedeji, General Manager, Herald Newspaper, Rasaq Adebayo, General Manager, Kwara Television, Abdulfatai Adebowale; Regional Editor Leadership Newspaper, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin and Alhaji Tunde Akanbi.

In his sermon, an Islamic scholar, Alh. Sulyman Danboronu, urged children of the deceased to emulate the good virtues of love and generosity of their father.

He lauded the deceased for training his children and guiding them on the path to follow, which has made them not only pride of their community but the state at large.

Danboronu, who decried lack of moral discipline among the young and old nowadays, advised people to lead upright lives for a better society.

Speaking to National Pilot, the Rector of Kwara Polytechnic, said his late father would be remembered for his generosity.

He stated that he was elated at the large crowd present at the ceremony, which he said is evident of the positive impact the deceased had on the lives of others.

The Rector expressed appreciation to his father, whom he said worked hard to ensure his children had sound education, adding that all his surviving 24 children are graduates.
