Kishi-Kaiama Road: Iba of Kishi lauds FG, KWSG, NASS
The Iba of Kishi, Oba Moshood Lawal, and the National President of Kishi Progressive Union, Bayo Adesope, have lauded the Federal Government, Kwara State Government and the National Assembly for approval of the construction of Kishi-Kaiama Road by the Federal Executive Council.
While Lawal expressed appreciation in a statement made available to our correspondent in Ilorin on Saturday, Adesope spoke during an address at the swearing-in of new executive members of the union.
They stated that the road constructions across the country embarked upon by the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari would accelerate national integration and socio-economic development of the country.
The leaders commended Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for succeeding in obtaining an anticipatory approval for the construction of Kishi-Kaiama Road from the Federal Executive Council.
According to them, the road is vital to the economic survival of the people of Kishi in Oyo State and Kaiama in Kwara State and an instrument of love and unity, which has existed between the two boundary towns of Kwara and Oyo states.
Lawal noted that it was “cheering” that the FEC led by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had recently gave the approval. The monarch stated that the road when completed would be the shortest distance and an alternative road between Lagos and Sokoto, adding that such a development would accelerate economic growth of the areas.
He, however, appealed to FEC to promptly pay the bill for the construction of the road when completed.
Adesope noted that the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), had been making tremendous efforts to ensure that all roads in the country became motorable.
