KWASU set to increase list of qualified aeronautic engineers

Authorities of the Kwara State University, KWASU, has promised that with the commissioning of first phase of its College of Engineering Block, the university is better prepared to train students in Aeronautics and Aeronautical Engineering.

Speaking during the commissioning of the complex in Malete on Wednesday, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said that the commissioning, which was part of 50th anniversary of the state, would also ensure an increase in list of qualified aeronautic engineers in Nigeria and West Africa.

The university which recently introduced the course and which is said to be the first to do so in the country, was partnering with the International Aviation College, Ilorin in running of the programme.

The governor charged the students for the course to make use of the opportunity to turn out to be great contributors to development of their societies.

He asked management of the university to ensure proper maintenance of the college and other facilities in school for benefits of students and the institution.

Earlier, the state commissioner for Tertiary Education, Aminat Ahmed disclosed that the building which foundation was laid in February 2013, was completed with about N1.2b.

She explained that the building comprises eight lecture theatres for about 700 students, library and laboratories among other facilities.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Abdulrasheed Na' Allah commended the state government for its commitment to the success of the project and assured that the management would not disappoint in ensuring achievement of mission for which the college was established.

He said students would be admitted from across West African countries to study aeronautics and aeronautical engineering at the college.
