Kwara has potential to dominate African sports in the next five years

Date: 2017-05-20

Tunde Kazeem, Kwara Director of Sports, says he is optimistic that athletes from the state will dominate at sports events in Africa in the next five years.

Kazeem said in Abuja on Friday that he is confident about this because the state has been doing well in its grassroots development programmes.

He said the state is on a higher level in comparison with others when it comes to the racket sports, as well as track and field events.

"Grassroots development in Kwara is very high.

"Just recently at a table tennis championship in Lagos, we came first, second and third.

"So, we are doing very well, especially in all the racket sports and track and field events. We are also trying to improve our performance in other sports.

"In fact, we can be rated among the first three states in the country when it comes to grassroots sports activities.

"In the next five years, our athletes will dominate Africa in sports events," Kazeem said.
