The Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Olabode Olayemi, has called on state potential farmers to be up and doing in their efforts to make agriculture the fulcrum of the state economy.

Olayemi made the call during the verification visit to farmers who registered to participate in the off-takers Demand Driven Agricultural Programme of the state.

The commissioner stated that the state government was out to focus on Agriculture and will help the farmers in making greater yield to the economy of the state.

He charged all farmers to be more dedicated to their work saying that "I'm committed to all potential farmers' well-being and will make sure that state government come to your aid by always giving you the best you deserve."

Earlier, Olayemi visited farms in Irepodun axis such as Oko, Oro, Oro Ago and also Ifelodun local government area as well as Kaiama in Kaiama local government area.

Some of the farms visited are situated at Gwari, Tesse and Aboki.

The commissioner commended the Kaiama farmers for their impressive farming system describing it as very encouraging.

In his response, the Shettima Kaaiam farm Alhaji Zaki Kareem, sought for the state government's assistance in providing tractor, fertilizer, chemicals like herbicide and insecticide as well as necessary farm input and soft loans which he believed will boost their agricultural activities.

Kazeem also appealed to the government to as a matter of priority repair their bad road so as to ensure easy movement of farm produced from the farm to the market.
