Bioscience firm seeks partnership with UNILORIN

Date: 2016-12-15

Prof. Ikhide Imumorin, Chief Executive Officer of African Biosciences Ltd, has called on the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) to partner with his research outfit to develop biosciences research.

Imumorin made the call on Wednesday while presenting a paper titled: "Transforming Biosciences Research through University Partnerships with African Biosciences Ltd" at the University of Ilorin.

According to him, his research group is committed to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNILORIN to take research in biosciences to the next level.

He assured that the resources of African Biosciences Ltd. would be made available to the university toward meeting its academic and research missions.

"As part of the MoU, we will provide special pricing for reagents and supplies, provide access to research support, and access to the laboratory at special discount rates."Biosciences technical training services will be available to the University of Ilorin research community to update skills, current knowledge and provide continuing education," he said.

The expert disclosed that the company was running biosciences research advisory services and commercial platforms.

According to him, the company's range of services includes the designing of research projects for B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD students.

He said that it also included a provision of well-equipped laboratory for use or for contract research services.

Earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Technology and Innovations of the university, Prof. Gabriel Olatunji, reiterated the commitment of the management of the university to make its research findings available for commercialisation.

Olatunji said that the university would consider the proposal because private research institutes had contributed immensely in moving forward research just like the University of Ilorin, to the next level.

He explained that partnerships with research organisations would bring about mutual benefits to all the parties involved.

He expressed optimism that the management of the university would consider this great opportunity to excel without further delay.
