Assembly wants more transformers

Date: 2016-11-02

The Kwara State Government has been urged to make provision in the 2017 budget for installation of about 105 electricity transformers distributed to communities.

This is part of resolutions by the House of Assembly following a matter of general public importance raised by a member representing Kaiama/Wajibe/ Kamanji Constituency, Ahmed Ibn Mohammed, on vandalism on some transformers procured in 2014 due to non- installation.

The Deputy Speaker, Elder Matthew Okedare who presided over yesterday's sitting said the state government should make it a priority to ensure that more communities have access to electricity.

The House equally urged the government to direct relevant agency to give priority to the reconstruction of Egbere-Lanwa Bridge in Moro Local Government Area to reduce the hardship.

It also received a petition on the need to compel Kwara State University to put to use the forest earlier allocated to Tate and Lyle, which, according to the petitioner endangers the lives of the people.
