Ilorin N/Worth Constituency: PDP defeats ACN

The People's Democratic Party candidate, Alhaji Fatai Salman, in the Ilorin North-West State Constituency rerun election held yesterday defeated the Action Congress of Nigeria candidate, Mr Kayode Aiyelabegan.

Announcing the result in Ilorin, the Director of Public Affairs of the Independent National Electoral Commission for Kwara State, Mr Jacob Ayanda said the PDP candidate in the election, Alhaji Fatai Salman scored 25,708 votes to defeat its closest rival, Kayode Abdul Aiyelabegan of ACN, who scored 15,759 votes. Other parties like Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) scored 3,698 votes, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) scored 730 votes, APGA scored 227 votes, among others. The Appeal Court had ordered a rerun election in both Alanamu and Oloje wards of Ilorin West constituency as the 2011 polls in the wards were marred by irregularities.
