Kwara Police arrest four suspects over issuance of fake employment letters
The Kwara Police Command has arrested four persons over alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, impersonation, forgery and obtaining money under false pretence.
Mr Sam Okaula, Kwara Commissioner of Police, who addressed newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin listed the suspects as: Hassan Abdulwahab, Tajudeen Adebayo, Ajidagba Abfulrasaq and Tajudeen Hussein.
The commissioner said that the suspects were arrested following intelligence tip at Gaa-Saka and Oke-Fomo areas.
"The syndicate specialises in forging employment letters and letters of posting of different government agencies and parastatals, such as the Nigeria Hajj Commission and the Nigeria Ports Authority. Other areas affected, the commissioner said were the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission and Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, among others.
"They charged and collected between N40, 000 and N70, 000 for the state appointments and between N200, 000 and N350, 000 each for federal appointments."
The police boss said that the activities of the syndicate had led to the injection of fake workers into the workforce of the state, which made the current verification embarked upon by the state government timely.
"Fake documents of different government agencies and parastatals were recovered from them. "They confessed to have made N4 million from the process and they will soon be arraigned," he said. (NAN)
