ACPN no more in Kwara - Olusola Saraki
The Second Republic Senate Leader and the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Olusola Saraki, has said the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) is no more in Kwara State, stressing that the party has formally re-aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and is determined to join Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in moving the state to the next level.
Speaking through the party's erstwhile leader of the Elders' Forum, Alhaji Amosa Jiddah, Dr Saraki said the PDP remained one big family.
Alhaji Jiddah spoke on behalf of the elder statesman on Wednesday, when he led a delegation to the Government House, Ilorin, on a solidarity visit to Governor Ahmed, on his recent victory at the governorship election petitions tribunal, which upheld his election.
He pledged the support and loyalty of the former ACPN members to the administration of Governor Ahmed, in his efforts to transform the state.
Alhaji Jiddah, who told the governor that they were at the Government House to felicitate with him, on the authority of the Waziri of Ilorin, said the elder statesman was overwhelmed with the tribunal's judgment, which, he said, further re-affirmed the wish of the people of the state.
He also said that their visit was a re-affirmation of the merger of the ACPN with the PDP in the state and assured the governor of their readiness to work together to ensure the success of his administration.
Alhaji Jiddah, who also described the short sojourn of the former members of the ACPN from the PDP as a period of great lesson and experience, prayed God to avert such occurrence in future.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Ahmed thanked the delegation and assured them that he would run an all inclusive government, devoid of marginalisation of any individual or group.
Governor Ahmed, who said that no section of the state would be marginalised in terms of execution of projects, sharing of positions and patronage, described the return of the former ACPN members into the PDP as a true reflection of one house coming together for a common purpose.
