UNILORIN Improves Doctoral Programmes

In order to improve on Doctoral program in the University of Ilorin, certain measures have been put in place by the authorities of the institution.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Issaq Oloyede during a meeting with the doctoral degree staff and students of the University at the University Auditorium.
Professor Oloyede said certain rules must be obeyed by the students to help instill discipline in the doctoral degree college of the University and also make it worthwhile in the University.
According to the Vice Chancellor there will be monthly submission of evaluation from students to their supervisors where the supervisors would instruct them on the next action. He said the full time students are expected to report daily to their supervisors while part time students to report once a week.
Professor Oloyede said all Doctoral students must publish an article once a month and online forms must be completed within one week of production. He stated further that research Managers for Humanities, Medical College and Engineering faculty have been employed to help students on their various researches.
He added that the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Technology innovation, University of Ilorin was established for the purpose of driving all research activities.
In addition to the efforts made by the institution to pursue excellence in its academic standard, Professor Oloyede noted some activities the University is carrying out to achieve excellence.
The Vice chancellor however, appreciated the large outcome of the populace despite the examination in the University premises and also admonished the students to adhere strictly to the rules.
In his remarks the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Professor Bayo Lawal said probity, objectivity and excellence are some of the core values driving innovation.
The Deputy Vice chancellor Research Technology and Innovation, Professor Funsho Oladele urged the doctoral students to work hard and promised to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate equipments for research in the University.
Among those present at the meeting was the Director of Center Research Education Development In house Training, (CREDIT), University of Ilorin, Professor Temidayo Oladiji, Deans from various colleges and other staff from different departments too.
