Ahmed assures Kwara communities of portable water
Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has assured that communities in the state with problem of portable water will soon heave a sigh of relief.
Ahmed gave the assurance at the Third Omupo Day celebration by the Omupo town in Ifelodun local government area of the state at the weekend.
Ahmed who was represented at the occassion by the state commissioner for Housing and Urban Develoment, Bode Olayemi said the government would not relent efforts in achieving its programme of access to portable water in every 500-metre distance in the state
He said the health centre in the Omupo community would be upgraded as his administration embarks on upgrading health centres across the state. The governor urged the community to continue to support his administration on its programmes and policies for development of the state.
Earlier, Olomu of Omupo, Oba Yaqub Adebayo Buari Ilufemoloye, said most of the amenities in the town were provided by self-help efforts and urged the government to assist in aiding the town's development.
The monarch, who said in view of growth in the community's population, the existing infrastructure and facilities have become acutely inadequate to support the wellbeing of the people.
He urged that government to assist the town in areas of health care, education, water supply and construction of feeder roads.
He assured the government of the community support for it to succeed in its developmental programmes.
