Kwara remembers fallen heroes
    
Deputy Governor Peter Kisira of Kwara stressed the need for all Nigerians to work together to keep the nation as one.
Kisira made the call at the Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Church Service held at Christ Apostle Church, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin on Sunday.
Kisira appealed to those calling for Biafra to exercise restraint and caution.
He said Nigerians have a lot to gain in the continued corporate existence of the country.
He called for a to stop insurgency and implored those dissatisfied with the system to explore the option of dialogue and discussion in tune with best practices all over the world.
Kisira called on religious leaders to commit the families of the fallen heroes to God in prayers.
Kisira said Nigerians should pray for the quick recovery of the nation`s ailing economy and the eradication of poverty ravaging the land.
The deputy governor noted that the service and other programmes were token of recognition and acknowledgment of the contributions of the fallen heroes.
"The fallen heroes made the supreme sacrifice for the unity of the nation in various wars, peace keeping missions, communal clashes in various parts of the country and of recent the Boko Haram insurgency", he said.
He reminded Nigerians to extend hands of fellowship to the dependants of the fallen heroes to alleviate their suffering.
State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Prof. Timothy Opoola commended the federal government's efforts at curbing insurgency in the country, and stressed the need to do more for the family of fallen heroes.
The state government donated food to the families of the fallen heroes while special prayer was offered for the armed forces, the state and the nation. (NAN)
