N20bn Bond: APC backs Kwara Govt, urges Assembly to fast-track process.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party said an inept and inexperience PDP would not be granted the privilege of dictating how government ?activities should be conducted.
"Kwara APC has noted the established concerns and observations of the opposition Pe?oples Democratic Party (PDP) on the N20bn bond proposed by the Kwara State Government for infrastructural projects.
"We wish to state that instead of stating facts and presenting its arguments on the tripod of truth, the PDP has only mischievously brandished staggering figures and wide claims on the debt profile of Kwara State and propriety of the proposed N20bn bond.
"For instance, ?PDP claimed the N17bn bond obtained in 2009 is yet to be fully settled while, indeed, the bond was fully liquidated on August 5, 2014. Whether it is a deliberate or ignorant falsehood, the PDP has clearly shown it has refused to learn lessons from the way it conducted it activities in the past. Such inexperience and inept party, would not be granted the privilege of dictating how government ?activities should be conducted.
"Again, we wish to state that the bond would not impose ?any undue burden on the people of Kwara State and issues bordering on repayment plans of the bond have been well-thought out and sorted by the Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed-led administration.
"The bond will fund capital projects like the dualisation of Micheal Imoudu to Ganmo Road, part completion of Kishi - Kaiama Road, the indoor sports hall of Ilorin Stadium, new campuses for Kwara State University at Osi and Ilesha, school classrooms, remodelling of General Hospital, Oro, procurement of about 1,000 electricity transformers, equipments for the newly-built International Vocational Centre - Ajase Ipo, Industrial Park and others.
"Meanwhile, It is not a fluke that Kwara State Government was recently decorated as the Most Transparent State Government in the country. It is an honour earned by the Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed-led administration through hard work and best standards of accountability.
"?Finally, we urge the Kwara State House of Assembly to discharge its constitutional duties with utmost consideration of Kwarans' interests. The collective interests of Kwarans for infrastructural development should represent a foremost concern to honourable lawmakers. Yes, the House of Assembly is wholly dominated by members of our party. Still, we urge State lawmakers to put the collective interests of Kwarans above their individual interests. The Kwara State House of Assembly should fast-track the process.", the statement read.
