Saraki Golf tourney kicks off in Ilorin Dec 19

The 2015 edition of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Golf tournament has been up- graded from closed to open championship status as the tournament enters its 8th edition.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Captain of Ilorin Golf Club, Malam Faruk Ismail, on Tuesday in Ilorin.

According to the statement, the event is billed for Saturday , December 19, at Ilorin Golf Club, which will be preceded by a welcome cocktail for participants on Friday, December 18, 2015.

He explained that no fewer than 150 amateur golfers from golf clubs across the country will take part in the one day event.

"And for the first time professional golfers will take part in the competition though, on invitational basis" Ismail said.

The Ilorin Golf Club Captain assured golfers of a hitch- free and wonderful golfing experience during the competition as the golf course is in good shape with superb putting greens.

The tournament is sponsored since inception in 2007 by Hon. Aliyu Ahman-Pategi, representing Edu,Moro and Pategi federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

The tournament is part of activities to commemorate the 53rd birthday anniversary of the Senate President.

The tournament is expected to perform the ceremonial tee-off on Saturday by 9am.
