Osun Speaker For kwara NUJ Lecture, Thursday

SPEAKER of Osun State House of Assembly,Hon .Najeem Salam will in Ilorin on Thursday November, 19 deliver the 10th public Lecture of kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) .

Theme "The change Project : Ending Corruption and Ensuring Prosperity in Nigeria".

The public lecture tagged "Media Parliament" will take place at the Conference Hall of the NUJ along ST Anthony's Secondary School,Ilorin by 11 am.

Media parliament, according to a statement by the council's chairman Abiodun Abdulkareem and Secretary NUJ Strategic Development Committee, Umar Abdulwahab, is a forum to interact with top rated media professionals in the state .

The programme,the statement added is also designed to achieve policy implementation,assessment and evaluation in various sectors of the nation's economy".

Meanwhile , the council has described as well deserved, the appointment of the immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC),Alhaji Lai Mohammed as the minister of information and new Commissioner for Information in Kwara state ,Mahmud Ajeigbe.

The NUJ noted that the appointment of Mohammed,who represents kwara in the federal cabinet would "engender good tidings for the media,journalism practice and enhanced access to information on public policies".

The council in a statement by its chairman,comrade Abiodun Abdulkareem and state secretary ,comrade Babatunde Jimba emphasised that Mohammed's deployment to serve as information minister "is a round peg in a round hole in view of his track records of efficiency and good performance as the former national publicity secretary of the governing APC".

On the appointment of Ajeigbe ,the council,hope that he will bring his experience to bear in strengthening working relationship with journalists in the state.
