Warri Wolves midfielder Lordson Ichull has said he could not celebrate after scoring his team's equaliser against Kwara United because he knew he had hurt the fans.

The combative midfielder told Daily Trust Saturday that he was delighted with the goal that helped his team to get a point from the game to push them to the third place on the table.

He, however, said after scoring, he could not celebrate because he knew he had just inflicted pain on Ilorin fans who love him so much.

"It is one moment that will linger for a long time in my memory. It was a great performance from my team and I am happy that my goal gave us the vital away point.

"Everybody knows that Kwara State made me who I am and coming back to score against Kwara United to deny them the maximum point was like biting the finger that fed you. But that was how God wanted it.

"I knew the fans who love me so much were in pains. They wanted their team to pick the maximum points but God used me to split the points".

Ichull likened his situation to Frank Lampard who returned to Stamford Bridge to deny Chelsea victory over Manchester City but couldn't celebrate.

"For me it was like the case of Lampard coming back to deny Chelsea victory against Manchester City. Although I did not play for Kwara United, I graduated from Kwara Academy and played for ABS in Ilorin.

"Therefore, playing against Kwara United was like playing against ABS in Ilorin Township stadium. When I scored, I was a bit sad but I had to do my job. If I had another chance, I would have scored again to give my team victory," he said.
