Police nab certificate forgery kingpin in Ilorin
Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Abdulmajeed Olajide who specialised in document and higher institutions' certificates forgery. The suspect was reportedly nabbed at his office located along Isale koto area of Ilorin, the state capital. According to a source who lives near Olajide's office.
"I have mistaken the suspect for an estate manager not until I saw some police officers who came to raid his office." It was gathered that among documents and certificates recovered from him included those of some Universities and Polytechnics.
Also recovered were WAEC,NECO,NYSC certificates, seals and runner stamps of private and public schools, and various local governments and State of Origin certificates among others from the suspect.
Speaking with journalists, the suspect, 38, said he had been in the illegal business for almost 10 years, stressing, "I'm from Ede town in Osun State. I have been in the business for up to 10 years and I have been able to make several millions of naira but let me just say about N8million.
"I sell a certificate for about N80, 000 but it depends on who I am dealing with. Sometimes it is more than that. ?I have been buying those certificates from Oluwole in Lagos but I only put finishing touches to them here.
I receive patronage from both within and outside the state." The spokesman of the Police in the state, ASP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
Okasanmi said, "he was arrested for being in possession of some forged documents. In the cause of investigation, it was discovered that he is the sole perpetrator of the crime.? Some Nigeria's institutions' certificates were found in his office when raided."
Okasanmi, however, said that investigation was in progress to bring other people involved in the crime to book.
