Better days coming to Kwara workers - SSG
The Nigeria Labour Congress has been commended for their support that assisted in the smooth and peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections. The Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold, made the commendation when the new executive council of the NLC, Kwara State chapter led by its new chairman, Alhaji Abdul Yekeen Agunbiade paid him a courtesy visit.
Alhaji Gold said that the act of steadfastness, perseverance and dedication to duties by the workers, remained a driving force for the achievements recorded by the state government in all its ramifications.
According to him, due to understanding, cooperation and support from the workforce who stood by the government, they are able to plan ahead and move forward even during the difficult period when states were faced with financial hardship as a result of the drop in the allocation from the federation account to the states.
He however expressed optimism of an improved economy which would translate into a better working condition for the workers in the state after May 29. He urged workers to continue to demonstrate honesty and dedication to du and at the' same time shun acts capable of tarnishing their image and those of their respective organizations.
Responding, the new chairman, Kwara NLC, Abdul Yekeen Agunbiade said the Labour Congress would reciprocate the government support by dedicating themselves to duty, pursuing programmes that would add value to both government and the workforce.
Comrade Agunbiade also requested the state government to support the new executive council of the NLC just as they did to their predecessors. He reminded the state government to kindly consider them on the issue of Hajj and Umurah slots whenever the opportunity arises.
And finally appealed to the state government to quickly come to the aid of the staff of SUBEB and solve the problem of their salary once and for all.
