Ahmed tasks journalists on nation building

Date: 2015-05-06

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has charged stakeholders in the media to remain agents of change by holding tenaciously to the ideals of the profession while upholding human dignity and decency.

Ahmed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba on the occasion of the International Press Day, commended Nigerian journalists for their role in ensuring transparency in the just concluded elections. He however noted that like every human endeavour, there is room for improvement.

"As Fourth Estate of the Realm, the media must at all times remain the conscience of the nation. This can only be attained when journalists see themselves as nation builders", he said.

The governor who promised more support for the media during his second term in office, thanked journalists working in the state for their steadfastness and for remaining above board before and during the 2015 elections.
