Kisira, others commend INEC over peaceful polls

The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Elder Peter Kisira has commended the Independent Natioal Electoral Commission (INEC) and the people of Baruten over the peaceful conduct of yesterday's governorship and State House of Assembly election in the area.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after getting accredited at LGEA polling unit, Ilesha-Baruten, Kisira expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the polls.

Also speaking, the Waziri of Yashikira, Senator Mohammed Ahmed expressed satisfaction over the security beef off in the area and the peaceful conduct of the polls in Yashikira and its environs.

From Gwanara also in Baruten, Mallam Jibril Masne said the election was equally peaceful, credible, free and fair.

The Chairman of Harmony Holdings, Professor Halidu Abubakar decried the low turnout of voters but commended the early turnout of electoral officials while Alhaji Shuaibu Burangau equally decried the voter apathy in Okuta but commended INEC for enhancing a smooth conduct.

The Chairman of Baruten LG Council, Alhaji Mohammed Bio Omar who spoke at the Sabo polling unit in Ilesha appealed to the people to turn up for the election while also urging INEC to improve in the use of card readers that could not capture the thumb prints of eligible voters.
