Press Release - Threat To Life : APC Warns Fayose.

Date: 2015-03-01

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has sounded a note of warning to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on the threat to the life of its officer in Ekiti, Chief Taiwo Olatubosun, the Party's Publicity Secretary.

The Conference of APC Publicity Secretaries (CAPS) said Nigerians should hold Governor Ayodele Fayose responsible if anything ?untoward or harmful happens to the Publicity Secretary of APC in Ekiti State, Chief Taiwo Olatubosun.

In a statement, jointly signed by the trio of APC Publicity Secretaries of Ondo, Osun and Kwara States, Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya, Hon. Akin Morakinyo and Alh. Sulyman Buhari, the party said Chief Olatubosun has been the subject of harassment and attempted assassination from agents and aides of Governor Ayodele Fayose in recent times.

In their words, "We are aware of the threat to the life of our dear colleague in Ekiti, Taiwo Olatubosun, his family members and aides by Governor Fayose's agents. We want to warn Mr Fayose without equivocation that, if anything should happen to Chief Taiwo Olatubosun, his family members and/or aides, Nigerians would hold him (Fayose) responsible.

"It is on record that Fayose's aide, one Ariyo Afolabi, threatened Olatubosun's life and those of his family on phone in the presence? of senior police officers at the Police Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti while our colleague was in the office to lodge a complaint. Olatubosun put his phone on speaker while Ariyo was making his threat, but up till now, the Ekiti State Police Command have not deemed it fit to invite Fayose's aide (Ariyo Afolabi) for interrogation.

"Any attack, harassment, intimidation, molestation and killing of any of these people, Ayodele Fayose would be held responsible. We would not allow any of such to be swept under the carpet, like the several ones he had perpetrated in the past. It is no news that, Mr Fayose has advanced so intolerant of criticism in Ekiti State that, he can be likened with a brutal dictator ?in a civilian system. This is unacceptable and all Nigerians with good conscience should dare to condemn it. ?

We therefore call on the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Police Command, to provide adequate security for Chief Taiwo Olatubosun, his family members and aides wherever they live, wherever they work and wherever they go in the country. Mr Ayodele Fayose should not be taken for granted due to his violent antecedents. He can do the unlawful and the unorthodox against his political opponents.

Our candid appeal to the good people of Ekiti State, "is to work assiduously to take the lost glory of Ekiti State from Governor Ayodele Fayose, which he and PDP have usurp through 'Stomach Infrastructure' and 'Ekiti Gate', back from him by voting out the PDP in the State.

We sympathise with the people of Ekiti State, for they are going through the reign of terror and ruthlessness. Ekiti people should summon the courage to promote intellectualism over and above mediocrity. Ekiti people should restore her core values which earn her "The Fountain Of Knowledge" amongst other virtues such as integrity, discipline, uprightness, accountability, service delivery to the people, e.t.c. the statement reads.

Signed,

Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya, Publicity Secretary, APC, Ondo State, AKURE.

Hon. Akin Morakinyo, Publicity Secretary, APC, State Of Osun, Osogbo.

Alh. Sulyman Buhari, Publicity Secretary, APC, Kwara State, Ilorin.
