Yusuf Ali tasks CDA's on youth's restiveness

A legal luminary, Alhaji Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN), on Thursday called on Community Development Associations (CDAs) to embark on aggressive establishment of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in order to arrest youth restiveness in their domains.

Ali made the call in Ilorin while launching the '2014 Electronic and Print Almanac' of the Ilorin Emirate Descendant Progressives Union to mark the 49th Annual National Conference of the Association.

According to the Ilorin based legal practitioner, mere sermons or verbal appeal to shun hooliganism would not appease a hungry person who has no hope of getting the next meal of the day.

Ali said before one can effectively and meaningfully persuade idle hands not to fall for being used as political thugs, a better alternative arrangement must be in place for hungry people.

The Ilorin based lawyer further charged communities to channel their development fund raising toward establishing small enterprises that would make the army of unemployed Youth become self -employed and job creators.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria assured that public spirited and well to do people in the society would be very willing to support such projects in cash and kind more than cash donations.

Ali stated that people were more concerned about proffering enduring solutions to the increasing involvement of youths in violence, crime and other social vices.

He added that money spent on building young entrepreneurs would fast rack socio-economic transformation of the community and impact positively on the masses.

Sheikkh AbdulMajeed Daud, Chief Imam of Gbede, Oyo State, in his sermon at the occasion called on politicians to play the game according to the rule and avoid destroying the society for selfish end.

Alfa Daud also appealed to members of the public to eschew violence in politics and reminded them that good legacies left behind by pioneers and past leaders were not meant to be destroyed by those aspiring to lead. The Cleric noted that democracy was designed to allow people of different creeds, colours, background and callings to come together and to enthrone good governance for the benefits of all.

He said that religion or politics abhors violence and therefore belonging to different creeds or political parties should not be cause of friction nor pull families apart.

Sheikkh Daud enjoined people to spread across political parties in order for the community to benefit from many areas for the progress and development of the area.

The Cleric enjoined politicians to be guided by the teachings of Prophet Mohammed that peace would be far from that society that thrives on injustice.

In his welcome address, the IEDPU National President, Alhaji Abulhamid Adi appeal to the federal government not to remove the Nigeria Air force Base in Ilorin.

He also called on the federal government to expand and reinforce the federal prison at Mandala to enable it accommodate all the inmates of the Prison yard in Ilorin and therefore return the present site to the community for another use.

He also called on the federal government to establish one college of education and functional Al-Majiri schools in Kwara state.

Adi commended all security chiefs in the state for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the state and appeal to politicians to ensure that 2015 general elections were conducted in atmosphere of peace.

Over 6 million Naira was realise at the occasion where the chief launcher altogether donated 1.65 million Naira and Kwara state Government also donated 2 million Naira.

Dignitaries at the occasion included who is who and people from all works of life from Ilorin and environ.
