Kwara gets arabic board
Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved take off of the Arabic Board in the state with the appointment of a renowned Islamic scholar and founder of Darul Kitab, Dr. AbdulKadir Oba0Solagberu as the pioneer chairman. The state House of Assembly had passed into law the bill for the establishment of the board sponsored by the immediate past administration of Governor Bukola Saraki.
The board is expected to, among other things, streamline the activities of Arabic and Islamic schools across the state.
The governor also appointed Alhaji Maisuna Yahya as secretary, lmam Ally Bello, (Isin), Mallam Armiyahu Lukman, (Ilorin-South), Mallam Yusuf Sulaiman Al Gamawiy, (Ifelodun), Mallam Fatai Mohammed Jamiu, (Moro), and Mallam Yaqub Abdullah from Edu Local Government Area of the state.
Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, yesterday lauded the state governor for granting the board the executive imprimatur to take off.
Also yesterday, a statement issued by the Sheu Alimi Islamic Foundation, (SAIF) and signed by its the National Secretary, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, described the board's take off as a good omen for the growth of religious education in the state.
The statement noted that Dr. Oba-Solagberu is a seasoned Islamic scholar of international repute whose wealth of experience in the field of Arabic and Islamic Studies as well as his global connection will no doubt assist the newly established board in the achievement of its goals.
