States' Heads of Service to Meet on Harmonisation of Public Sector Workers
The 36 states’ Heads of Service (HoS) will converged on Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, next week Monday, over the harmonisation of uniform scheme of service for all categories of workers in the country.
Already, six committees had been set up to ensure a hitch free summit.
The Kwara State Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammed Dabarako, who disclosed this to journalists in Ilorin yesterday at a press conference on the National Council on Establishment, said the conference would also attract 120 participants from all over the country.
According to him, “The meeting is being planned by the council that consist of all the 36 states Heads of Service who will deliberate on the grey areas on the nation’s scheme of service for all categories of workers across the federal and state civil service.”
He said the conference would also assist them to jaw-jaw on the way forward so as to have an effective and efficient workforce in the country.
Dabarako added that the council would also discuss on the disparity between the Higher National Diploma (HND) and degree holders in the civil service in the country.
He explained: “There are so many challenges and issues on the scheme of service and the past conference had addressed them and sent to the office of the Head of Service of the Federation for proper determination.
With the forthcoming conference, it would allow the council to re-examine the issues since it varies from one state to another and thereby coming out with joint forces so as to move nation’s workforce forward.”
Dabarako therefore said the meeting would also afford the participants to visit some well developed establishments in the state like the Kwara Football Academy, Ilorin Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin International Aviation College, Kwara State University, Malete, among others.
