APC asks N/Assembly to block ministerial, service chiefs appointments

Date: 2014-01-24

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its members in the National Assembly to block all proposals and appointments sent to them by the executive including the 2014 budget until the government stops what the party called impunity.

The party stated this in a communique issued at the end of the 8th meeting of its Interim National Executive meeting held in Abuja yesterday.

The party said it was taking the decision based on the "joint resolutions of the National Assembly on Rivers state, and other constitutional breaches by the presidency".

"APC hereby directs all its members in the National Assembly to block all legislative proposals including the 2014 budget and confirmation of all nominees to military and civilian positions to public office until the rule of law and constitutionalism is restored in Rivers state in particular and Nigeria" it said.

The National Executive Committee of the APC has now resolved that,if their acts of impunity and lawlessness continue unabated and the police persists in being used as an enforcement arm of the PDP to the detriment of our members,it will have no alternative than to ask our teaming members all over the country and especially in Rivers state to take whatever steps are necessary to protect their lives and property," the party said.

The meeting was chaired by the Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande and attended by General Muhammad Buhari(Rtd),Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, and the governors of Kwara, Rivers, Lagos, Edo, Nassarawa, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Ekiti, Ogun, and the Deputy governors of Oyo, Imo Kano and Zamfara.
