An era ends: Rashidi Yekini buried in Kwara as hundreds weep

UPDATE 1: Rashidi Yekini is about to be laid to rest. Internment fixed for 4 p.m. 100 of sympathizers already gathered at the family house in Ira, Kwara State. There are dignitories from the Nigeria Football federation. 

"The last time I saw my Dad was last Tuesday and we spoke very well. I'm going to miss him. He is the best father in the world," Yemi Yekini, daughter of the late footballer.

UPDATE 2: Imam begins prayer. Over 350 sympathizers here, attending the prayer. 

UPDATE 3: Prayer ended. Rashidi is making his way to the grave. There is wailing and crying by women, men and children, including dignitaries. He is now about to be lowered.

UPDATE: 4: He has been taken off the coffin and his remains is now wrapped in white. Yemi Yekini pours sand, weeping profusely. Leaves and water being sprinkled. One of the wives sobbing and being consoled by Ike Shorunmu. The corpse is lowered and the grave is being covered. 

UPDATE 5: Oyo Sports Commissioner, Dapo Lam Adesina, Mutiu Adepoju, Dimeji Lawal, Ajibade Babalade join long list of dignitories as imam makes sermon at graveside.

UPDATE 6: Prayers end at graveside, attention shifts to fron tof family house where people are passing tributes. Representatives of Governors of Osun, Oyo, Kwara, are giving speeches.

UPDATE 7: Oyo, Osun  Governments donate N1million each to Yekini's family. While a lot of people appreciate the donation, some say it would have been more meaningful if it was given while Yekini was sick

UPDATE 8: Kwara Govt promises N1.5million to Yekini's family

UPDATE 9: Royal father of Ira, Yekini's hometown, Oyewole Oyetoro, gives vote of thanks as sympathizers disperse
