KWSG pledges support for security outfits

Date: 2014-01-12

The Kwara Government on Sunday said it was committed to the welfare and provision of adequate facilities for security outfits in the state.

The state Deputy Governor, Mr Peter Kisira, disclosed this at a church service held at UMCA Chapel, Tanke, Ilorin, as part of activities commemorating the 2014 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The deputy governor said this would go a long way to curtail crime in the state.

Kisira, who was represented by a member of the State House of Assembly, Dr Abraham Ashaolu, commended the men of the armed forces for their resilience and commitment to the plight of incapacitated colleagues and families of those who died while in service.

The Chairman of the Kwara branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Prof. Timothy Opoola, urged Nigerians to be resolute in sustaining peace in the nation for meaningful development to be achieved.

Opoola prayed for God’s blessings for the families of the fallen heroes and eternal rest for the departed souls.

In his sermon, the host minister, Rev. Gbenga Odebiri, urged serving officers to live a pious life.

Odebiri asked God to grant the fallen heroes that sacrificed themselves for the unity of the nation eternal rest.

The cleric urged others presently in service to sustain the peace and the territorial integrity of the nation.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the church service was attended by many eminent personalities, top government functionaries and members of the armed forces.
