No Christmas break for ABS players

Date: 2013-12-06

ABS football club of Ilorin say there will be  no Christmas  break for  their players and officials.

This is to enable the team to prepare for the Nigerian National  League  which kicks off on  January 25.

General Manager of the club Alloy Chukwuemeka told reporters in Ilorin on Thursday that the club required time to screen  players ahead of the new season.

He also confirmed that 13  players had dumped the club  for  Premier League sides.

Chukwuemeka, who doubles as the Secretary of the Club Owners Association of Nigeria, added that the outfit owned by former Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki would soon name a new coach for the club.

He confirmed the exit of coach Kabir Dogo to Nasarawa  United.

Chukwuemeka said, "Dogo has moved to Nasarawa.  He is such a humble, hardworking and honest coach. We wish him luck in his new job.

"As for us now, no Christmas break for the team because  we need to do a thorough screening to replace the  players that left."
