Customers Warned against Paying Electricity Fees to Workers
The Business Manager, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Challenge Business Unit, Ilorin, Kwara state, Mr. Adewumi Adetunji, has warned electricity users in the unit to desist from paying money of their bills used to any officials of the company henceforth.
Adetunji however said, rather, they should be paying their electricity bills into the banks or to the four undertakings of the business unit located at Tanke, Agba, Ganmo and Fate so as to ensure good accountability.
The development, according to THISDAY checks, might not be unconnected with the recent taking-over of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria by the new management of the company.
Prior to now, it was gathered that electricity users at times asked the marketing officers in the unit to pay in their electricity fees for them and this development has caused the unit a lot of financial mismanagement.
However, in a bid to check such ugly situation, the business unit has vowed not to allow such situation to re-occur henceforth so as to ensure proper accountability of the business unit revenue generation.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by Adetunji and signed by the disco's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Amola Oladepo, he said, "the management of the business unit urged the electricity customers within the network of the company in Tanke, Agba, Ganmo and GRA to allow genuine workers to continue to operate".
The statement also warned any impostors to stay away from the business unit so as to assist the unit to achieve its mandate for the electricity users of the unit.
It added that, "the customers should stop paying their bills to any officials of the company but pay their money to banks and other four designated undertakings in the business unit".
The statement also enjoined the customers to report faults to the offices close to their respective locations so as to assist the unit to urgently tackle the problems for effective and efficient service delivery.
The Business Manager therefore solicited the support and cooperation of the electricity users in the unit so as to assist the unit to serve them better.
