Sacked commissioners, others lobby for reappointment in Kwara
Most of the sacked commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and assistants to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, as well as new political appointment seekers have commenced intensive lobby to become members of the new cabinet.
The Punch correspondent gathered on Monday that they (political office seekers) have been making overtures and sending emissaries to top monarchs in the state, a former governor of the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje for consideration for the jobs.
Meanwhile, the state PDP Executive Council and Executive Board Chairman, Motels and Tourism, Ilorin, Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Onisankoko, have backed Ahmed for the cabinet dissolution.
The Kwara State PDP Secretary, Mr. Yemi Afolayan in an interview with The Punch correspondent said it was the prerogative of Ahmed to dissolve the cabinet bring in new people that would assist him accomplish his development agenda for the state.
Onisankoko said the cabinet dissolution had positive implication for political and socio-economic synergy. He added that it would assist Ahmed and Saraki to engage more intellectuals for the transformation of the state.
He appealed to the political leaders in the state to engage those who are people oriented as the members of the expected cabinet.
"This will not only attract total support of the residents to the government but will translate to wider coverage of dividends of democracy to the masses," Onisankoko said.
